Dear Friend of the Council on At-Risk Youth (CARY),
Thank you for your ongoing support of the CARY program. CARY provides the important mentoring so many of our disadvantaged youth need in order to turn their lives around and to stay out of the criminal justice system. Your gifts keep our programs operating and make a huge difference in a number of different ways.
CARY works with school districts in the Central Texas region to provide critically-needed behavioral counseling and violence prevention skills-training to some the most challenged and challenging youth in our communities. Our objective is to save these troubled youth and to spare our schools and communities and trauma and financial costs of crime and violence in the process.
We actively monitor and evaluate our science-based programs to see that we are achieving the positive impact we seek. CARY is a not-for-profit organization led by citizen volunteers but staffed by trained professionals. We believe our programs are the last best chance to stem the flow of youth facing school suspension from entering the juvenile justice system or from ultimately becoming part of the adult penal system. When measured against the costs of incarceration, our preventative initiatives are the best use of resources around. A gift to CARY is a gift that goes on giving.
CARY has been fortunate to receive some funding from both the City of Austin and Travis County, but we couldn't do what we do without the support of donors like you. As you plan your end-of-the-year giving, please consider giving to CARY's programs.
